DIED. Felix James Grucci Sr., 87, patriarch of pyrotechnics; on Long Island, New York. Grucci oversaw a family fireworks business that began in Italy in the mid-1800s. During his reign, the clan's productions rose to world class, with visual choreography worthy of Broadway. They hit their stride in the 1980s, illuminating such celebrations as the Brooklyn Bridge and Statue of Liberty centennials in New York and a series of presidential Inaugurals.
